Congratulations, Max!

I have some sad or happy news, depending on one’s perspective. Max has accepted a new position in the Cleveland Indians analytics group — Max’s announcement was made yesterday on the Baseball Prospectus site. This is a great opportunity for Max, but it means that Max will not be able to contribute anymore on this blog. (It is possible that he can write about other sports and R.)

Anyway, I’ll try to keep this blog going since there are many new developments in the application of sabermetrics thinking in R. I’m thinking of asking some friends to contribute, since some of these people are more familiar with the new baseball R packages.

I now have two reasons to root for the Indians: my daughter is marrying an Indians fan and Max is working for the Tribe in analytics. But despite being the oldest team in baseball, I remain a Phillies fan.
